Out Now–Without Love

Today is the release day of my newest, Without Love.

Hey, it’s 50% off if you order from The Wild Rose Press.

Here’s the blurb–

perf5.000x8.000.inddCaterer Emma Cook isn’t having a good day. Pregnant at thirty-three by a rich and engaged man, she is forced to sign an agreement to keep the baby a secret. She’s more than willing. The sooner this is settled, the sooner the whole mess is behind her. Yet when she arrives for the meeting and spies Lucas Benjamin, her real trouble starts.

Luke’s life, since the death of his beloved wife, has been taking care of his older brother’s problems. So he’s not surprised when a lawyer contacts him with the details of his latest affair. What does surprise him is his reaction to the woman. Usually he just offers a large sum of money and the difficulty is resolved. But this isn’t so easy. This woman doesn’t want anything from the Benjamins, except to raise her child alone. An easy solution, so why isn’t Luke happy about it?

It’s too easy for both of them to let down their guard and trust. Can they overcome the fact that another man’s baby grows inside her? Will the closer she gets to her due date change everything?

One and the Same #MFRWHooks

It’s Book Hook Wednesday again.logo book hooks

Because I just finished (hopefully) the edits for my up new release with The Wild Rose Press, here’s a bit about my first romance with them.

Hey, it only took me ten years .

Ten years plus a dozen or so more books published. Three publishers shutting down on me.  Ten books reverted back (I think.) Republished two of them and plan on rewriting six. One I put on Wattpad and the last I gave up on.

A deep bass voice roared, stopping her near the sofa and loosening the beats of her heart into a rapid rush of a thundering waterfall...She recognized that voice.

A taste of One and the Same

A deep bass voice roared, stopping her near the sofa and loosening the beats of her heart into a rapid rush of a thundering waterfall…

She recognized that voice.

“Matt,” she whispered. “No!”

He lifted her off her feet and threw her down on the red and green flowered sofa, capturing her hands high up over one of the armrests. She whispered his name again, feeling the heat burning off his body like rays of a tanning bed in the middle of a Seattle rainstorm.

“Matt.”oneandsame_w2526_300

“Kate?” Mint scented breath breezed over her face, sending her heart rate once again dangerously out of control. “Damn it, I could have hurt you.”

Jerking up off her melting body, he moved to the nearest lamp and switched it on before twisting around to face her. Nothing showed on his impassive face. “Sit up.”

“Matt.”

“Get up.” Dark eyes glared at her, focusing on the exposed expanse of her tiny middle. “And you might as well cover up, it won’t work on me.”

“What won’t work on you?”

“I don’t care how sexy you are, how beautiful you look laying there in the dim light, TopNotch Security is not going to finance that damn television show.” He glared harder at her. “I don’t know what Erin was trying to do, bringing you here, but it won’t work. My answer is still no.”

Forgotten Memories #MFRWHooks

logo book hooksIt’s Book Hook Wednesday again. This time I’ve got a bit about the hero from the first book in my Winter Creek, Montana series with Beachwalk Press, Forgotten Memories. Hero and heroine will be meeting soon.

Here you go–

“It’s a herd of cattle, for crying out loud.”

“Please, Mr. Craine.” The younger man leaned toward him. “It will do you no good to get angry at us. Jack and I can’t make a decision without Jen’s input. Jack will call her, and she’ll be here soon. She’s only across the street from the bank.”

Jen, he thought. According to the sign hanging on the wall directly behind the younger man’s clean desk, Jennifer Ferguson was the history expert on the town’s original time period. Two other names joined with hers–William Longstreet, an accountant and Jack Phillips, a historical constructionist.

Adam could only imagine what this woman looked like. Probably an old crone who knows the history of town because she used to live in it, he thought with tight grin.

And, yes, he’s got it all wrong.

The blurb–

For some people ghosts are everywhere…Forgotten Memories_Medium

When rebuilding an old ghost town, a few ghosts shouldn’t be a surprise. And for Jen Ferguson, history professor and psychic, it’s par for the course. But ghosts aren’t her main worry.

After a disastrous affair, which has affected her job at the college, Jen promised her grandfather—the most important person in her life—that she would stay away from men until the end of the semester. That’s a promise she’s determined to keep, but when she meets rancher Adam Craine, it becomes a struggle. Adam’s sexy and flirty, and her psychic abilities are telling her that he might possess a very important quality the previous men in her life had been lacking…he can be trusted.

It’s a daily battle for Jen to keep her hands off of him, but she believes she can do it…until two of Winter Creek’s ghostly residents decide to up the stakes by possessing Jen and Adam’s bodies. How can Jen keep her promise with these two passionate spirits interfering?

And if all that’s not enough to deal with, now she’s having premonitions of danger which could lead to the destruction of Winter Creek.

The Lawman’s Apache Moon–Debra Holt

“No more detours!” That was the promise Angelina Lord made to herself when she accepted a ride from a wedding in Texas, with the best man to her destination in Santa Fe, New Mexico. What could possibly go wrong?

Angelina is focused on one thing–opening a fashion boutique in Santa Fe. What she really doesn’t need is one full-of-himself lawman with his aggravating air of superiority and soul-searing eyes…not to mention heart-stopping kisses…coming to her rescue. If she lets him get too close to the truth, he could bring down the wall she erected around her well-ordered life and her heart.BookCover_TheLawmansApacheMoon

United States Marshal Jace Blackhawke holds family and traditions as the center of his life. He isn’t part of Angie’s world and she certainly isn’t part of his. Will their differences prove to be too insurmountable in the face of the truth that will not stay silent?

Excerpt

“Nice morning.” He sent the words across to her, his eyes drawn in and owned by the pair of emerald green ones that danced and dazzled and demanded his attention. Cat eyes? Eyes that held a mysterious pull on his with their feline shape, brilliance, and shielded in a black nest of lashes where secrets could hide.

“If you say so. Bit cold… and flat.” The voice matched her… smooth and feline and flat-out intoxicating.

Damn. Was the air thinner here? His normal thinking was all out of whack. He made no reply just kept a stone-faced countenance while his mind tried to pry itself loose from whatever strange hold this newcomer exerted. The quarreling couple held no interest for him. With his eyes concealed behind a pair of aviator lenses, he felt his gaze drawn again to the woman.

Here’s a bit about the author–

Born and raised in the Lone Star state of Texas, Debra grew up among horses, cowboys, wide open spaces, and real Texas Rangers. Pride in her state and ancestry knows no bounds and it is these heroes and heroines she loves to write about the most. She also AuthorPic_UnderTexasBlueSkiesdraws upon a variety of life experiences including working with abused children, caring for baby animals at a major zoo, and planning high-end weddings (ah, romance!).

Debra’s real pride and joys, however, are her son, an aspiring film actor, and a daughter with aspirations to join the Federal Bureau of Investigation. (more story ideas!)  When she isn’t busy writing about tall Texans and feisty heroines, she can be found cheering on her Texas Tech Red Raiders, or heading off on another cruise adventure.  She read her first romance…Janet Dailey’s Fiesta San Antonio, over thirty years ago and became hooked on the genre. Writing contemporary western romances,  is both her passion and dream come true, and she hopes her books will bring smiles…and sighs…to all who believe in happily-ever-after’s.

Some Bets Are Better than Others #mfrwhooks

Hey, it’s Wednesday again. That’s means it’s time for book hooks.

logo book hooksI’ve got another little snippet of one of my sexiest romance so far, Winning the Bet. The first time the readers experience the heroine and hero together.

Enjoy.

“Fridays are always so dreadfully slow. It makes the day go a bit faster,” Phillip declared. “And it’s harmless fun.”

“Then why don’t we ever bet on something different? Like who will get the strangest guy or the oldest woman?” Maggie shook her head. “Or the most frightened, dependent child or skeletal-thin girl?” She glanced at Phillip. “Or the prettiest girl?”

“Well, what would be the fun of that?”

“Oh, Phillip, you will never get it.” Karen snorted at the man before staring hard at Maggie. “And you are so…unbelievable. Your divorce was final six months ago.” She moved closer to the desk and leaned over her. “Hell, your marriage was over for a year before you even filed for divorce.”

She didn’t want to think about that. Maggie didn’t want to think of her marriage at all. She was just glad she’d never had a child with the bastard. “I shouldn’t have ever married him.”

“Maybe not,” Karen said. “But that has nothing to do with the sexy guy out there.”winningthebet_medium

Maggie swallowed down bitterness as she slid from her stool and walked through the lab toward the opened door. She peeked into the waiting area, spying the man in question sitting in one of the black chairs near the middle. One man sat in a seat opposite the doorway and two older gentlemen and one woman sat at the farthest end. The younger man moved and she refocused her attention on him. Wide shoulders filled the expanse of his seat, one hard, tanned arm lay on the side of his chair, while the other lay in his lap. Both hard-muscled legs stretched out toward the empty chairs in front of him.

“Hello.”

Got her staring. Interested? (I hope you are maybe a little bit.) Here’s where you can get the book.

Love On The Risky Side–Mariah Ankenman

Welcome to a Book Blast.

Read the BLURB here:MediaKit_BookCover_LoveontheRiskySide_w11064_750

Falsely accused of the murder of her best friend, Kayla Jenkins is on the run for her life. She ends up lost in dark, snowy woods off some backcountry road in the middle of nowhere. Frightened and colder than she’s ever been in her life, she almost thinks she’s hallucinating when a warrior on a white steed saves her.

In all his years as the sheriff of Peak Town, Colorado, Jake Ryder has never come across a half-frozen woman alone in the woods. She’s terrified…and lying to him, yet something about her calls to him on a primal level.

Even with her trust of law enforcement lower than the harsh temperature, Kayla finds it difficult to keep her secrets hidden from the kind and far too handsome sheriff. But as her faith in Ryder grows, she not only risks the real murderer finding her, but losing the one thing she has searched for her whole life and only just found…love.

And one of the books EXCERPTS here:

“My name is Jake Ryder, but most folks call me Ryder.” When she didn’t return the introduction, he continued. “Can I ask how you came to be all the way out here in the middle of the night?”

Giving a guarded glance from the horse back to him, she simply said, “Got lost.”

And they say women were chatty. Hell, he had a pet parrot as a kid that talked more than this woman. Not a problem. As sheriff, he was used to interrogating uncooperative suspects. Not that she was a suspect, yet.

“Got lost…” He looked her over. Big, red, winter coat, long dark slacks and—were those high heels? “…shopping?”

Honestly, who the hell wears heels in the woods?

She scowled, wrapping her arms around herself. “My car ran off the road. I—I got out to find help. Wandered off the road and got lost.”

Something about her story smelled like Wind Chaser’s stall after feeding time. “Why didn’t you call Triple A?”

Her gaze darted to the side. “Cell died.”

Yeah, and I’m the King of England.

“You need a ride back to your car?”

Her eyes widened. “On that thing?”

“Her name is Wind Chaser, and yes. Did you think I had a car hidden in the trees?”

Her jaw clenched at his sarcasm. Well, excuse him. It was dark, cold, and the last thing he wanted to do was be out here trying to pull a story out of Ms. Lying-Crazy-Lady.
